Hydrocarbon Solvents REACH Consortium
A new REACH consortium was launched on 16 July 2008 upon the initiative of the European producers of hydrocarbon solvents as organized in the Hydrocarbon Solvents Producers Association (HSPA), part of the petrochemistry industry sector of Cefic (European Chemical Industry Council).
In this consortium 12 companies combine their efforts to prepare consistent registration dossiers for almost 80 substances in 9 categories before 1 December 2010.
The consortium invites all interested parties – other EU manufacturers, non-EU manufacturers, importers, downstream users or other data holders – to join the consortium and play an active role in its REACH works.
In order to facilitate an appropriate registration of hydrocarbon solvents, HSPA has adopted a consistent substance identification system, which is easy to use and completely compatible with the relevant REACH and OECD guidance documents. It also ensures all key components for a clear naming of the substances including the substance nature as “Hydrocarbons”, the carbon range and the component split.
