Fuel Ether REACH Consortium (FERC)
Fuel ether producers and importers have formed a REACH consortium to handle the preparation of the technical documentation required under REACH for MTBE (methyl-tert-butyl-ether), ETBE (ethyl-tert-butyl ether) and TAME (tertiary-amyl-methyl-ether) mixtures. This Consortium was formed under the initiative of the EFOA sector group, which is part of the petrochemistry industry sector of Cefic (European Chemical Industry Council).
The Fuel Ether REACH Consortium was officially launched on 9 May 2008 after having agreed the terms of the contract that define the operation of the consortium, including its structure, ownership of data and cost sharing. A technical task force was set up and is working on the data analysis and dossier preparation. ReachCentrum was selected as Project Manager and TNO as the technical service provider.
FERC is open to EU and non-EU manufacturers/producers/importers of fuel ethers.
