In the course of 2005, the price of crude oil fluctuated between 44.5 and 64.1 USD, averaging about 54.4 USD. (Figure 01: Crude oil prices between 2000 and 2005).
In 2005, the naphtha prices remained high. The challenge for the European Petrochemical industry is to sustain its profitability in an environment of volatile oil and feedstock prices.
