Benzene production, consumption and trade balance

Western European benzene capacity, production and consumption

The production of benzene remained at the same level since 2004, but in 2007 the production increased by 3.1% compare to 2006. The production decreased by 10.5% between 2007 and 2008.

Pyrolisis gasoline continued to represent the first source of supply with 59.6% of the total in 2008 (versus 55.5% in 2007).

Reformate based production represented 27.2% (versus 28.1% in 2007 and 25% in 2006). On Purpose and coal production represented 16.3% in 2006 and 2007 and 13.1% in 2008.

The total achieved production remained at 83% utilization of nameplate capacity between 2006 and 2007 but felt to 73% in 2008.

Between 2006 and 2007 the overall consumption increased by 4.1% and decreased by 8.8% in 2008.
